Federal Workers without pay

The stories are rolling in about the Federal Workers without pay due to the shutdown.  Stories about them unable to pay mortgages, having to go to food banks, have yard sales, etc.  I don't want to lack compassion, but I must set facts straight for other people.  There are many people who have been in the same exact position, long before this!  People with health issues who are unable to keep up with healthcare costs.  Premiums, deductibles, co-pays.  People who make minimal money on disability who cannot afford the cost of secondary health insurance in addition to Medicare.  People who have applied for Medicaid for help in New Hampshire, then told they cannot make over $600 a month, therefore declined!  These people have not only had to try to survive major health issues, but the stress of not being able to pay the bills. Some lose their homes. Some lose everything they have due to this!

So there have already been people in this position, that Federal Workers now face.  Everyone can suffer, not just some.  Then there is the question, why someone who makes over $100,000 a year (that many others have never had) did not have a security savings in place?  We are all responsible for how we handle our money.  All I can say for those who are not working right now temporarily, be thankful if you have your health.  Be thankful if you are not restricted by an injury.  Be thankful for what you have!
